A fun series of kids, books written with a cheekiness that will engage children but will also keep adults entertained has been release. Unruly Julie is the first instalment of the Silly Kids series by Alan Moss. Written with KS1 education in mind and a vocabulary section at the end of the book to aid with recall and spelling.
Unruly Julie lives up to her name. She gets up to cheeky things kids will love to hear about, with infectious humour that adults will enjoy too. Until, like most children, she tires of being Unruly and wants to be something else. It’s a very silly story with a very clever twist.
Children introduced to Unruly Julie love to read her story again and again. She gives them licence to laugh out loud and an eagerness to read that parents and teachers love.
Alan Moss has been plugging words into the rhythm of life all his life. Throughout a career of copywriting and broadcasting, his true passions have remained being poetic and making people laugh. Especially that wonderfully carefree, infectious laughter of children. That’s why Alan is still a ‘Silly Kid’ at heart.
Alan explains: “It all started because I love writing poems and my little nephew wouldn’t go to bed without a funny story. Having been a kid myself (and a big fan of Spike Milligan’s Silly Verses for kids), I realised that larger than life characters, with cheekiness and fun rhymes thrown in, can grab the attention and imagination in the biggest way for little ones. Being married to a guided reading expert for young children also helped me to find the right balance between entertaining and educational. Most of all, it’s about all of us being Silly Kids at heart.”
Unruly Julie and Clever Trevor are both available from the Troubador Bookshop, Amazon, Waterstones and all good retailers.
