EDINBURGH FRINGE: Soaring and Spiraling – The Unlikely Friendship of Feather Boy and Tentacle Girl

🦑 What happens when a boy who dreams of flying meets a girl who wants to be a monster? You get a breathtaking aerial show filled with heart, courage, and gravity-defying friendship.

“The Unlikely Friendship of Feather Boy and Tentacle Girl” is a stunning new aerial theatre production for ages 8+ that’s taking flight this August at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and later soaring into Glasgow’s Tramway. Created by the visionary team of Vee Smith and Sadiq Ali, in collaboration with Catherine Wheels, Imaginate, National Theatre of Scotland, and Assembly, this one-of-a-kind experience explores what it means to truly belong.

From Outsiders to Fantastical Friends

Before the flips, spins, and sky-high choreography, Feather Boy and Tentacle Girl were just two lonely kids who didn’t quite fit in. He longed to fly. She longed to become the creature she imagined in her dreams. Through a powerful story told through aerial performance, the two find connection—and the courage to become who they truly are.

🎪 This is more than just an acrobatic display—it’s a moving story of identity, acceptance, and the magic of friendship.

Visually Spectacular, Emotionally Grounded

Expect thrilling aerial feats, rooftop stunts, and performers who quite literally fall from the sky. But beneath the spectacle is a deeply relatable tale about finding your place in the world—even if that place is high above it.

Whether you’re 8 or 80, Feather Boy and Tentacle Girl will lift your spirits and leave you looking at the sky a little differently.
