This Easter, Glasgow Science Centre is bringing families a holiday packed with creativity, discovery and hands-on fun with Building Wonders — a lively programme of construction play, creative challenges and Easter-themed activities.
Running throughout the spring break, the event invites visitors to spend the day building, experimenting and exploring together. With the Science Centre celebrating its 25th birthday year, it’s also the perfect time to rediscover why it remains one of Scotland’s favourite destinations for curious young minds.
Build, Create and Explore
Inside the Science Mall, families can start their adventure in the Construction Zone. Here, children can dive into giant blue building blocks to design towers, bridges and imaginative structures. The space encourages early engineering thinking through hands-on play, giving young builders the chance to see how their ideas take shape.
For those who enjoy a challenge, the Egg Drop Challenge in the Design Studio puts creativity and teamwork to the test. Families work together to design and build a protective cradle for a fragile egg before dropping it from a height. The moment of truth — waiting to see if the egg survives — is always full of excitement. Whether the design succeeds or not, the shared laughs and teamwork make it a highlight of the visit.
Science That Sparks Curiosity
In the Science Show Theatre, the popular Flame On! show brings science to life with dramatic demonstrations exploring what fire is, how humans have used it throughout history and why understanding it helps keep us stay safe today. With bursts of flame and plenty of “wow” moments, it’s guaranteed to capture the attention of visitors of all ages.
Families can also follow the construction-themed Bunny Trail, which winds across all three floors of the Science Mall. Along the way, visitors encounter clues, puzzles and hands-on exhibits that turn the trail into a playful science adventure.
If the weather cooperates, the fun continues outside in the Fibonacci Garden, where children can dig and build in the sand pit while enjoying fresh air and open-ended play.
Giant Screens and Space Adventures
To round off the day, the centre’s impressive IMAX theatre offers two Mini Blockbuster add-ons. Families can choose between the brand-new Penguins – A Love Story 3D or the thrilling T‑Rex 3D, both delivering stunning visuals on the giant screen.
Meanwhile, the Planetarium takes visitors on journeys through space with shows such as Spring Skies, Space Explorers, and The Great Solar System Adventure, with a special Planetarium Late also scheduled during the holidays.
A Perfect Easter Day Out
With creative construction zones, exciting science shows, interactive trails and immersive big-screen experiences, Building Wonders promises a joyful and inspiring family day out this Easter.
And in its milestone 25th anniversary year, Glasgow Science Centre is inviting visitors to celebrate curiosity, creativity and the thrill of discovering something new together.
