This year, Edinburgh’s Christmas invites schools from across Scotland to join the festive fun with a programme of magical, educational, and accessible activities for children and young people. From ice skating beneath the winter lights to creating art that brightens the city, pupils can take part in memorable experiences that will boost their creativity, confidence, and sense of community.

Festive Funfair
Plan the ultimate school trip with a visit to the Festive Family Funfair in West Princes Street Gardens — a kids’ favourite packed with exciting rides and festive cheer.
Each pupil receives a wristband for 1.5 hours of unlimited fun for just £6.50 per child. All teacher tickets are complimentary, and every 10th pupil goes free. School sessions are available Monday–Thursday from 17 November 2025, with the final admission at 16:00 (subject to availability).
Glide into Christmas at the Ice Rink
The Ice Rink returns to Edinburgh’s George Street from 20 November 2025 – 04 January 2026, bringing a touch of Christmas magic to the city’s historic streets. Pupils can skate under winkling lights on the purpose-built covered rink — a fun way to stay active and experience the joy of the season, whatever the weather.
