The UK Parliament’s Education and Engagement team delivers award-winning, free education services across Scotland and the rest of the UK. We help school students learn about the role that Parliament has in their lives and how they can actively get involved.
We offer:
- Free school trips to the UK Parliament at the Palace of Westminster, where students can experience a tour and workshop in our Education Centre. Bookings open on a termly basis and schools must register an account on our portal to be able to book. Eligible schools in Scotland may also be entitled to claim a travel subsidy for these visits (terms and conditions apply).
- Outreach assemblies – our Outreach Officer for Scotland delivers interactive assemblies that equip young people with the knowledge and tools they need to engage with their democracy, through quizzes, discussions and topics that are relevant to them.
- Learn with the Lords sessions – this is a unique opportunity for your students to learn about the vital role of the House of Lords and ask a member questions during a Q&A session either online or via an in-school visit.
- Our annual UK Parliament Week is a great way of inspiring your students to get informed about their UK Parliament, take action and make an impact on the issues they care about. When you sign up, we’ll post you a free kit with a curriculum linked booklet tailored to the age groups you are working with.
- Teacher Training – our dedicated Teacher Training team offers a comprehensive programme of free CPD, online and in-person events, and training for teachers at all stages of their career though our Teacher Network.
