Following the success of last year’s vibrant ‘Old School to New Cool’ theme, which saw children bring together nostalgic favourites, classic choreography and energetic modern twists, the Glee Challenge is turning its attention to something close to everyone’s heart.
This year, it’s all about Family
For the 2026/27 Challenge, ‘Family’ means much more than the people you live with. It’s about the people who encourage you, support you, celebrate your successes and help you feel like you belong.
That spirit is already at the heart of the Glee Challenge. Every time school choirs come together to rehearse, perform and cheer one another on, they create their own special musical family.
The new theme gives children the chance to explore what family means to them through song and performance, while celebrating friendship, connection and belonging.
Building confidence through music
Last year’s Challenge demonstrated just how powerful singing and dancing together can be. Schools across the competition embraced the theme, with children throwing themselves into their performances and audiences responding with plenty of enthusiasm.
Beyond the excitement of taking to the stage, the Glee Challenge gives young performers an opportunity to develop their confidence, creativity and teamwork – all while making memories with their friends.
After the success of ‘Old School to New Cool’, the move to ‘Family’ feels like a natural next chapter.
