**“I also like when you’re pedalling really fast and the wind is coming right in your face or when it’s raining, you feel like you’re a superhero trying to find a missing person!” **The words of Olivia, a pupil at Tayview Primary School in Dundee, as she took part in Bikeability Scotland training.
We recognise how busy the start of the new school year can be, particularly the first couple of weeks back in the classroom. It’s an intense time with lots of asks and competing priorities.
One of the (many) benefits of Bikeability Scotland training is that you can get started at any time. Cycle training can be taken at any point during the year, at a time that suits your school, and over the next four editions we’ll be sharing updates and information to help you get up and running.
For the time being, the key points to know are:
- Bikeability Scotland is a progressive, in-school cycle training programme
- The training is fully funded, with no cost to your school or your pupils
- Since it started in 2011, move than half a million pupils have benefitted
- We offer a support package, shaped to your school’s needs, which can include bikes and training for staff and volunteers
- Training is designed to be as inclusive as possible, allowing all pupils to take part
Bikeability Scotland is managed by Cycling Scotland, working in partnership with local authorities, and is funded by Transport Scotland. Training is supported by a network of qualified instructors.
Over two thirds of Scottish primary schools already make time in the school calendar for Bikeability Scotland cycle training, to join them Contact your local Bikeability coordinator today for more information
