World-Famous Red Arrows Set to make an Appearance at Autumn Air Show

The International Ayr Show – Festival of Flight is set to return in 2026 after last year’s spectacular event thrilled crowds with breathtaking displays featuring Spitfires, Lancasters and parachute performances.

Families across Glasgow and Ayrshire, especially young aviation fans, can look forward to another exciting weekend as organisers have confirmed the popular airshow will return — with the world-famous Red Arrows expected to be among the highlights.

The free event will once again take place along Ayr’s shorefront this autumn, with the RAF aerobatic team preparing to deliver two impressive displays in the skies above the town.

Following their appearance at the annual Royal Military Tattoo Flypast in Edinburgh on August 15, reports from the Military Airshows website suggest the Red Arrows are scheduled to head west after performances in England and Sweden, appearing at Ayr on two consecutive days.

Taking place on Friday, September 4 and Saturday, September 5, the event will be centred around the Low Green and will include thrilling flying programmes on Friday evening and Saturday afternoon.

While full details are still to be announced, previous years have seen the Festival Village filled with a wide range of family-friendly entertainment and activities for all ages.

Since launching three years ago, the airshow has grown into one of the region’s most anticipated events, regularly attracting huge crowds eager to witness incredible aerial performances. Organisers are expected to bring back some favourite aircraft from previous years alongside new additions for 2026.

Based on past events, visitors may once again enjoy displays from legendary aircraft including Spitfires, Hurricanes, Lancasters and RAF Typhoons at the hugely popular free festival.
