I’ve made a list of just a few things families can love about autumn!

Wild walks in wellies; kicking up leaves; conkers; coming home to a warm bowl of soup or stew; snuggling up in front of the fire; the knowledge that half-term and Halloween aren’t lurking too far away and of course – it’s events season! In this issue we bring you news of so many fantastic options for family fun you should pull your calendar off the wall right now (or get your phone out) and put those dates in the diary! Explore these pages to discover your autumn adventure.

Children never need an excuse to get dirty or jump up and down in muddy puddles, but after reading our interview with microbiologists B. Brett Finlay and Marie-Claire Arrieta you might feel a bit more relaxed about sending them off for a bath the minute you get home. Autumn is also a wonderful season for food, so we’re taking a trip around the world with CBeebies I Can Cook creators Sally Brown and Kate Morris for some global inspiration to get the kids helping out in the kitchen.

If you’re thinking about hosting a Halloween Hoolie then browse through all our spooktacular ideas, from dressing up to gruesome games that your little monsters will think are fangtastic, but if all those kooks and spooks are making your kids want to hide under the duvet, read Dr Mark Rodgers advice on how to help your child conquer their fears.

Have an awesome autumn…
