Letter from the editor

If we could give you the perfect gift this Mother’s Day what would it be? Many mums might say the ideal life balance of being able to have a career – but always enough time for their children – and no more mum-guilt! Impossible? Cathy Owen explains how she found support from like-minded mums at the Scottish Mothers Collective, and why we should all support the campaign for increased flexible working opportunities.

Kids love to play, but as parents how much time do we really spend each week doing the thing with our children that they love the most? It might seem a little crazy to ignore that pile of dirty washing to instead spend 20 minutes laughing and playing monster hide and seek with our children, however as mindfulness guru Amber Hatch explains, taking regular time out for play could be a much more important parental role than you imagined. Kerry Thomson discovers, in the most romantic city in the world, that as much as you can love being a mum, you must also remember to love yourself on occasion too!

Elsewhere, I chat to Sir Chris Hoy about his latest Flying Fergus adventure and as we hop into spring, your little bunnies will love making Ruby Rabbit courtesy of our guest crafty kids expert Tracey Radford.

Enjoy!
